Film title __White Sun of The Desert_____
Director___Vladimir Motyl_______
Date released ________________
List three adjectives that describe this film
__Western________ ____Paternal_______ ___Action-packed_______
What is the film about? (write at least three sentences)
This film illustrates the predicament that Red Army soldier Fyodor Sukhov finds himself
in while returning home after his tour in the desert near the Caspian Sea in Russia.
Sukhov is put in charge of guarding the nine wives of a murderous bandit on his way
home and must stay faithful to his own wife while protecting them. Sukhov ends up
having to fight the bandit and the bandit’s men when he stops to rest in a seaside town
which results in a major clash.
What was good about the film?
It clearly depicted Russian culture, Russian values, and what traits make up a Russian
hero during reign of the Soviet Union.
Would you recommend the film? Why or why not?
I would recommend this movie on the basis that a solid amount of knowledge can be
taken out of it to understand the Soviet people during the time period which would be
very beneficial for any essays or other projects. However, the movie is somewhat slow
and not very entertaining which may just be a tradeoff for the information given in the
movie.
