List three adjectives that describe this book
Descriptive Informational Fascinating
What is the book about? (write at least three sentences)
This autobiography tells the story of Anwar el-Sadat, one of Egypt’s presidents. He describes how his political values were shaped as a young man. His presidency is also told in detail though his eyes. The novel gives another insight into the events occurring in Egypt during a significant time in Egyptian history, the period when the nation was trying to show the world that they were in control of themselves and they did not need to help of Western powers like the Soviet Union and the United States.
What was good about the book?
This novel did an excellent job of providing a detailed description of el- Sadat’s presidency. It showed what went on behind the scenes of some of the decisions that were made by the political leaders. Another thing the book did really well was describing the events that led up to the Egyptians showing the world how they could finally demonstrate to the world that they did not need the aid of the Soviets or the United States to defend themselves.
What was challenging about the book?
One of the most challenging things about this book was the fact that he mostly jumped from place to place a lot. It became difficult at times to understand what was happening in the novel. Sometimes he described his political decisions in such detail that it sometimes it becomes boring.
Would you recommend the book? Why or why not?
I would recommend the book to people who do not mind reading a lot about political choices made by leaders. The book involves many political aspects which gets confusing at times. The book can be very informative to those who are able to follow someone who writes in a way that jumps from place to place often without getting completely lost.
